Electro-deionisation (EDI)
Electro-deionisation is a continuous process to obtain ultrapure water without having to use chemical products. It consists of eliminating ions and ionised species present in the water using electricity.
Electro-deionisation is commonly used as a refiner for permeate water obtained from reverse osmosis, replacing traditional mixed bed systems and ruling out the need to use chemical products to regenerate exchange resins thereby avoiding both the high cost of these products and the environmental problems they can cause.
Simplicity, taking up less space, ease of maintenance and the fact it is a continuous process, are other advantages compared to demineralisers using resins.
